Our executive team comprises individuals dedicated to the principles and mission of this agency.
Shawn Yardley, Chief Executive Officer
Shawn has an accomplished career in nonprofit and public management, is a trusted confidant for public and private leaders, has a reputation for leading successful efforts to address complex issues, and is involved in many statewide policy conversations. As a vital community leader in Bangor he is known for being a strategic and systemic thinker and leader.With multiple honors and awards for volunteer leadership, including, the University of Maine School of Social Work’s “Alumnus of the Year,” Shawn currently serves on seven local and statewide nonprofit boards.
Recent jobs held include Director of Community Services at Penobscot Community Health Care, Director of the Bangor Health and Community Services Department, Executive Director of the River Coalition in Old Town, and Maine’s Department of Human Services, Regional Program Manager for Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington Counties.
Shawn has a B.A. in Sociology and Social Welfare from the University of Maine, an MS and MBA from Husson University, and has been a Faculty Associate in the Social Work Department at UMaine since 1986. He has been elected every year to serve on the State Coordinating Council for Public Health, and in 2006 was appointed by Governor Baldacci to the inaugural State Homeless Council, an appointment he continues to hold today.
Kevin Mahoney, Chief Financial Officer
Mahoney comes to Community Concepts from Martin’s Point Healthcare in Portland where he was Manager of Financial Analysis and Operations. He brings over 25 years of diverse experience as a financial manager, with an accounting and finance background and expertise in administrative systems and process improvement.
In addition to leading the finance team, Mahoney will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the long-term strategy for Community Concepts and its subsidiary organizations.
Mahoney has a B.S. degree in Accounting from Thomas College and is the current Chair of the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland. He lives with his wife Chris in Westbrook.
Mary-Rita Reinhard, Chief Operating Officer
Mary-Rita Reinhard is a seasoned operations executive with extensive experience in business process improvement, managing by the metrics, strategic planning, and leading people. She has experience in the non-profit, for profit and publicly traded industries. Recent past jobs held include Director of Operations at both Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine and Tri-County Mental Health. As the Chief Operating Officer of Community Concepts, she will be an effective leader focused on initiating change, establishing direction and executing against plan.
Mary-Rita is a recent graduate of the Health Leadership Development Program through the Daniel Hanley Center and her background includes numerous leadership, business and executive courses.
Among the trainings she has received are:
- Process training through Hammer and Company
- Leadership Development Series with Ken Blanchard
- Six Sigma Champion Training through the Juran Institute, and
- High Performance Management Techniques through the Customer Operations Performance Center.
Mary-Rita lives in Naples with her husband, Peter, and has been married for 30 years. She has two grown children Christopher, 23 and Cody, 19 and enjoys many family activities.
Dennis started with the agency in 1982 as a carpenter on the weatherization crew. He has held numerous position within the agency, including bookkeeper, rehab tech, system manager, housing developer and Director of Housing and Real Estate Development. Dennis holds a Master’s degree in Community and Economic Development from Southern New Hampshire University.
Dennis has held the position of CEO of CCFC since February 2012, and was promoted in October 2014 to Vice President of Economic Development & Housing. He has recently taken on the role of Senior Director of Strategic initiatives.
Dennis and his family reside in Hebron.
Candace Sanborn, Vice President of Resource Development & Marketing
Candace has over 25 years of branding, media, and communication strategy experience in a variety of industries. She has owned her own firm, Encompass Marketing for 15 years, and most recently held the position of VP of Marketing for Provider Power. Candace is a long-time supporter of non-profits and has been active in the community serving as Chair, Board of Directors: United Way of Androscoggin County; Board of Directors: Maine Community Foundation (MCF); Board Member and past Chair: MCF Androscoggin County Fund; Board of Directors: Central Maine Medical Center; and Ambassador Committee: Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce.
Candace has a B.A. in Journalism, Advertising from the University of Maine and an M.B.A. in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University.
Sue Hanley Director of Human Resources
Susan has served as Director of Human Resources since 2009. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education, an HR certificate from University of Southern Maine and has completed numerous HR and leadership programs.
